From Page to Stage: Customized Genre Workshop
We all have favorite authors, filmmakers, playwrights, television shows, comic book characters, and more. Our world is populated with amazing stories that we, as a culture, are familiar with. Stories and characters that we LOVE. Appropriation is a natural part of the creative process and a way to share a commonality between creators and creative consumers. Using genre and stylized storytelling in improv can:
Give you freedom through focus
Teach you specific narrative skills
Give your group/show an easy and accessible marketing angle for your audience
Bring a wide range of new tools to your "improviser tool belt" through the development process
In this workshop, the members of PGraph will teach you basic narrative techniques and how to take inspiring (and various) source materials and turn them into your own original, highly marketable, and extremely fun show.
